The Center for Tourism Research (CTR), Wakayama University has held workshops for students and young researchers since 2022. This year's three sessions will be held in a hybrid format at Wakayama University and online.
In the first session, CTR is honored to welcome Professor Kaye Chon from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University's School of Hotel and Tourism Management.
He will explain innovation and leadership in the tourism and hospitality sectors. His presentation aims to inspire participants with fresh perspectives on innovation within organizations and to explore how these innovations can elevate businesses to new heights.

Overview
In today’s rapidly changing business environment, there is a pressing need for innovative thinking in leadership. Organizations led by visionary leaders are better equipped to thrive in a highly competitive and volatile landscape. A vibrant culture of innovation within an organization flourishes under strong leadership that actively fosters and embraces creativity. The purpose of this presentation is to inspire participants with fresh perspectives on innovation within our organizations and to explore how these innovations can elevate our businesses to new heights.

Professor Kaye Chon
(School of Hotel and Tourism Management at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Hong Kong)
Professor Chon is currently Dean, Chair Professor and Walter & Wendy Kwok Family Foundation Professor in International Hospitality Management at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University's School of Hotel and Tourism Management. Under his guidance, the School of Hotel & Tourism Management at Hong Kong PolyU has emerged as a global leader in hospitality and tourism management education. For eight consecutive years, the school has secured the top spot in the "Hospitality and Tourism Management" category in the Global Ranking of Academic Subjects. He is a regular keynote speaker at international conferences and has contributed significantly to academic literature. Currently, he serves as the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Travel & Tourism Marketing and the Asia Pacific Journal of Tourism Research. In recognition of his contributions to tourism knowledge, he was awarded the Ulysses Prize by the United Nations World Tourism Organization in 2011. This prestigious award, often referred to as the "Nobel Prize in Tourism," is given annually to a scholar for their lifetime contributions to the field.
