[Event] CTR Tourism Education Forum 2023

The Center for Tourism Research (CTR) at Wakayama University will hold an international forum on tourism education.
A number of universities and training providers, both inside and outside of Japan, are offering tourism-related programs and courses. It is critical for the providers to maintain and ensure the quality of their programs and courses.
In this forum, CTR will welcome Dr. Edith M. Szivas as the keynote speaker. She is a true leader in the field of Tourism Education and has dedicated her career to capacity development in the tourism sector as a UNWTO.TedQual certification auditor.
In the panel discussion, four representatives from the UNWTO.TedQual-accredited institutions in Japan will discuss the future of tourism education and the capacity development of young tourism talent.
This year’s forum at Wakayama University will be broadcast online (Zoom).

Keynote Speech
"Empowering Tomorrow's Tourism: Enhancing Tourism Education Quality through UNWTO.TedQual Certification"
Speaker: Dr. Edith M Szivas (UNWTO.TedQual Certification Auditor for the UNWTO Academy)
Dr. Szivas is a UNWTO.TedQual Certification Auditor for the UNWTO Academy. Dr. Szivas brings vast experience in senior management, consulting, and academia from across the globe. She managed projects for major international organisations such as the UN World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO), EBRD, UNDP, the World Bank, the Asian Development Bank, USAID and Ministries of Tourism in various countries. Her academic engagement included leadership of the world-renowned tourism and hospitality Bachelor, Master’s and PhD Programmes at the University of Surrey, UK and the Emirates Academy of Hospitality Management, part of the Jumeirah Group. Dr Szivas holds an MSc in Tourism Planning and Development and a PhD in Tourism Policy from the University of Surrey, UK.
